Digital Product Passport

The European battery passport is upcoming to enforce several laws for which the SandGrain solution could be a perfect fit: such as circularity, whilst offering the possibility of full life-cycle control including repair and refurbishment.

By 1st February 2027, all EV and industrial batteries on the EU market will require a unique battery passport. Information on the battery is to be retrieved using a unique identifier, and must include performance classification for carbon impact, electrochemical performance, and durability requirements.

The integrated, hard-coded SandGrain solution is ideally suited to enable the development and use of information systems that involves secure authentication. With a secured battery module authentication, advanced systems to manage the battery identities throughout their lifecycles can be created. This forms the necessary foundation for a secured circular economy for EV batteries.
